Arlington Public Schools’ spring break is Monday, March 22, to Friday, March 26, 2027, with Easter on Sunday, March 28. Classes resume Monday, March 29. Camps

Arlington’s Department of Parks and Recreation runs one-day and break camps on school holidays and teacher workdays, with partner camps in sports, art, cooking, chess and science at community centers and schools. Registration for spring camps (March to May) opens at noon Tuesday, March 2, 2027, on the county’s online registration site. The full list goes up on the break camps page before then. Things to do

  • Nature centers: Long Branch, 625 S. Carlin Springs Road, and Gulf Branch, 3608 N. Military Road, have live animals and run naturalist programs most weeks.
  • Theodore Roosevelt Island: woodland and swamp trails on an island in the Potomac, open 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.
  • Climb UPton at NOVA Parks’ Upton Hill Regional Park, 6060 Wilson Blvd.: the park calls it the largest ropes course in the Mid-Atlantic. Check its spring hours on NOVA Parks’ site.
  • Swim: Wakefield, Washington-Liberty and Yorktown aquatics centers have public swim times; see APS Aquatics.
  • MoCA Arlington, 3550 Wilson Blvd., is free and open noon to 5 p.m. Wednesday to Sunday.
  • Changing of the Guard at Arlington National Cemetery: every hour on the hour through March 31, then every half hour from April 1.
