Labor Day 2027 is Monday, Sept. 6. Arlington County treats it as a county holiday: offices, courts and libraries close, and trash pickup has run as normal in recent years. On Labor Day 2026 the county listed:

  • Brush, metal and e-waste special collections: regular collection.
  • Household Hazardous Materials and Electronics Recycling Center: closed until Tuesday.
  • Earth Products Recycling Yard: closed until Tuesday.

End of the summer season

School

In 2026, Arlington Public Schools started classes Monday, Aug. 31, and closed Friday, Sept. 4, and Monday, Sept. 7, for the Labor Day holiday. The 2027-28 calendar will set next year’s dates; we will add them here when the School Board adopts it.
